Week 3 - One Week With

Welcome to One Week With . . . Scripture Plain Janes.  This week I am pulling away from my favorite and a staple in my card making endeavors - Papertrey Ink.  I am delighted to share with you another of my favorites.  Verve Stamps has a line of stamps that is called "Plain Jane".  In particular, I am enamored with the Faith Plain Jane series.  Plain Jane is the description because it only has a single stamp in the set.  They are the only company I know of that offer scripture as a regular release which I love.  The fonts are gorgeous, the scriptures are well chosen, and the overall look is amazing.  I hope you enjoy this week full of beautiful scriptures all from Verve.

Today I wanted to show the verses done on Mat Stacks from Papertrey Ink.  These little die cuts have such a great style to them, and I thought the Scriptures looked great stamped on them.

I used a Mat Stack 3 and turned it sideways.  I layered it with a Purple Marvy Scallop Circle Punch.  This has such fun layers!

Supplies - All Papertrey Ink Unless Noted:
Stamps: Isaiah 61:3 (Verve); Background Basics: Text Style
Paper: Spring Moss, Rustic White, Ripe Avocado
Ink: Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss
Other: Purple Scallop Punch (Marvy Uchida), Mat Stack 3 Die, Vintage Cream Felt, Beautiful Blooms Die, Ripe Avocado Button, Rustic Twine

I rotated this Mat Stack Die as well.  I also used heat embossing so that the white would really stick out.

Supplies - All Papertrey Ink Unless Noted:
Stamps: 1 Thes 5:17 (Verve); Life, Larger than Life
Ink: VersaMark; Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss
Paper: Spring Moss, Stamper Select White
Other: Mat Stack 1 Die, Ripe Avocado Satin Dots Ribbon, Fillagree White Embossing Powder

I used the same Mat Stack turned but with a different verse.

Ink: Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss
Paper: Spring Moss, Stamper Select White

December has been a blessed time for my family and I.  We had a great time celebrating the birth of Jesus our salvation.  Because of this great celebration, this edition of "One Week With . . . " may be shorter than usual.  Thank you for your understanding.  Your comments, thoughts, suggestion, and criticism are always welcome.

Fly Away - Day 4

Only two days left for this edition of "One Week With. . . ".  I must say that I have enjoyed this week so much.  It is so fun to ink up such a fun stamp set.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, I bought this stamp set with the intention of using it for masculine as well as kid cards.  So today I have a card that would be great for a little boy and one for a girl.  :)  It was perfect as I needed some happy, fun, encouraging cards that I needed to mail to a 6 year old boy and a 4 year old girl.

The Boy Version

This was a fun card full of cute polka dots.  I love finding and using non-conventional images for conventional things.  I hope he loves this.

The Girl Version

What little girl doesn't love pink and rainbows?  (ok, I am sure that they exist)  I loved this plane in pink. I wouldn't think little girl when I saw this stamp set, but it sure looks good in pink.  Wait, doesn't everything?  :)  I hope this card brought a smile to a 4 year old girls face.

Thanks for joining me today as I shared some kid cards.  These two were super fun to make.  I am so glad that they would work for boys as well as girls.  It helps the stamp set get a little bit more mileage.  I will be back tomorrow for the last day of the week.  Until then . . .

Fly Away - Day 3

Today is the middle day of One Week With . . . Fly Away.  I have a really fun project to share today.  It was a labor of much love . . . trust me.  My son and his class have a reading goal that they are each to read for 68 hours.  My son is over half way there.  He gets so excited about reading and finding new books.  He is constantly asking for bookmarks, new books to read (as you can imagine that we read a lot), and book related things.  So, I had this idea to buy all the kids in his class a book for Christmas and outfit them with some small goodies.  We are both pleased with the outcome.

I talked my son into going with the "Fly away with me" theme.  He loved it because when you read a book you can go on so many different journeys.  You can see that we made two versions or colors of the book mark and bookplate.  I liked the variety.  I then went on to stamp all the little brown bags that these are going into.  My son and I meticulously went through several Scholastic book orders (you gotta love Scholastic when it comes to economical books) and hand picked books to go with each student in his class.  This is a sampling of the books - tons of boys getting "Flat Stanley" books.  Each child will receive  a book, book mark, and book plate all inside the cute stamped brown bag tied with green ribbon.  My son was upset that we aren't going to make tags to go on the bags.  :)  I have to draw the line somewhere!

Here is a closer view of the bags, book mark, and bookplate.

Here is a closer look at the two colors - one in rustic white and one in kraft.  I should also note that we are going to adhere the book plates inside the books prior to sacking.  I thought that would help them actually get used, and we have a chance to write on them.  I am big on writing in books that I gift.

I hope they like them.  It really was a labor of love.  My son gets a kick out of all the silly things I will put on his bookmarks.  I also know that bookmarks have a short life when it comes to 1st and 2nd graders.  That is why my emphasis was simple but cute.

Wow, only two days left in One Week With . . . Fly Away.  It goes so fast!  Tomorrow I will have some more "kid" things to share.  Until then . . .
